Trekking adventures to the Northern Norway, Sweden and Finland’s less known trails

Our popular trekking adventures have already been running for several years, and it is time to open new hiking routes for the next years. Our lead guide and owner of Adventure by Design, Gareth Hutton has been exploring new hiking routes at in 2019 and you have an opportunity to join him and our other skilled guides for a hiking adventure this summer.

Our groups are small, from 2 to 8 people. Our policy is to leave no traces, thus we do follow the existing trails in summer time and on busy times, we will be sharing the trails and huts with other people. Having said that, even in the busiest times, the routes we have chosen have very few hikers compared to the well known trails around the world. Meeting 10 people in a day is a big day for us!

Check out our group departure trekking tours for summer 2020 or ask us for a privately guided hike for your group.

Norway, Sweden, Finland trekking tour

Almost a legendary trek already, we have been guiding tours on this route for a few years already. For summer 2020, there are some small changes to the route to provide you with even more amazing experience!

Wilderness area hiking adventure to Finland’s highest peak

A Finnish classic – every outdoor person’s must trek in Finland, the hike from Kilpisjärvi village to Halti, the highest point of Finland. The most common way to do this trail is starting and walking back to Kilpisjärvi, but we do it only one way. Sometimes we start the hike from Norway, sometimes we finish the hike there. Which ever makes most sense at the time.

Following reindeer herder’s trails in the wilderness area

10 & 12 day trekking adventure through national parks and wilderness areas

Our region is no ordinary location. Our 10 and 12 day trekking adventures travel through 5 or even 6 national parks and other protected areas in 3 countries! Each one with their own unique features.  Ask for privately guided tours for 2-10 people.

The multi-day trails follow the famous Nordkalottleden, in a landscape of complete wilderness where the only visible modern human exploitation is the Samí reindeer herding. Reindeer paths cross the rugged hiking trails and often we see reindeer gracing in the surroundings. Rivers and streams provide plenty of water for drinking and refreshment, but the several river crossings make the trail more demanding.

We can enjoy a shower, fresh meal and re-stocking of supplies in Kilpisjärvi village about half way. Each participant carries their own food and some shared items, so this opportunity is welcomed by most.

Best times to go: July – September
