Experience the night-time nature. Join us to explore the different feeling of the wilderness on the midsummer night evening walk. Walk and be still, listen to the night time life of the arctic nature, let the golden sun light amaze you. The short arctic summer’s nights change from midnight sun to the first dark nights in mid August. It’s when the stars return to our skies and you might even be able to see the dim traits of the Northern lights in the sky.
Surrounded by the night time tranquility, the nature tells a different story than in the daytime. The landscape changes, as long shadows shape the fells and mountains, sounds become clearer and the freshness of the air becomes tangible.
In the sunlit nights, we can choose any route we’d follow on day time. Later in the season, we will choose easier routes which are safe to return in the darkness. Your guide will pick up the route based on the participants experience and interest. If you haven’t been to Saana yet, we might just walk up there, but most likely your guide will take you to routes you didn’t even know they exist.
The aim of the night time walk is not to cover long distances, but to enjoy the midsummer night evening walk. Your guide will serve a hot drink and tell you about the nature, history and life in the arctic.
Departure time: 20:30 from your accommodation in Kilpisjärvi
Duration: 2-3 hours
Suitability: easy walking, and can be adapted according to the group’s fitness and experience level
