Autumn hiking holiday Northern Norway and Finland
Autumn hiking vacation is a package filled with breathtaking landscapes; experience beautiful mountain walks by the turquoise water fjords at the famous Lyngen Alps and open tundra landscapes in Kilpisjärvi, Finland. After the day’s hike, you’ll relax in a comfortable cabin and hopefully in the evening, you get to see the northern lights.
Your guide is an experienced and professional outdoors guide who lives in the region.
The daily walks vary from 6-10 km (3-6 hours). The views are breathtakingly beautiful, so make sure to pack your camera with those boots. In the evenings, we will hope to see the northern lights while we sit around a campfire enjoying a dinner.
Off the beaten track in northern Norway and Finland
Forget the crowds and explore the paths less traveled. Lyngen is famous among the ski tourers, but in the early autumn, there is plenty of space for the outdoor enthusiast to roam. We can take a riverboat in Reisa National Park, and visit Sweden from Kilpisjärvi.
The region is a perfect destination for pleasant day hiking holidays for walkers of all levels. Our guided treks take you on easy to moderate routes around the region. You will have new vistas every day, from the comfort of the same quality accommodation. The fjords still show the signs of thousands of years of glaciers forming and retreating. Valleys and fjords are living proof of the force of nature. On this holiday you will most likely end up in conversations about the importance of protecting our fragile arctic environment.
Between the hikes, you stay in comfortable cabins, huts or hotels. Most people want to include one overnight in the wilderness, we can either stay in a reservation hut or tents if you want even more feeling of remoteness.
Customize your tour
Not everybody is the same, so we don’t offer everybody the same tour! Do you want easy walks or adrenaline? You’re vegan, pescatarian, low carb, meat lover? We will serve you good and tasty food for any diets. If you want breaks for prayers, day off to respect your faith or evening meditations, our guides will make time for those, always. Feel like you want a female guide or a photographer? Just let us know of any special requests, and we’ll do our best to accommodate those.

Pick up from Tromso at 10:00 am
On the way to Lyngseidet we take the first walk in Svensby. The Route has stunning views over Ullsfjord and the surrounding Lyngen Alps.
Located close to Lyngseidet is a popular walk up the hills behind the town. Leaving from the outskirts of the town, we follow a marked trail which leads up above the treeline to Rorneshytta, an idyllic cabin with a commanding view over the fjord.
Afternoon: visit to the world’s northernmost distillery, Aurora spirit.
Located at the head of the Steindalen valley is the Steindalsbreen Glacier. The trail up the valley is marked with information about the local flora and fauna as well as historical information. The glacier, like most around the world, has been steadily retreating and it is possible to follow this 8000 year journey as we walk through the valley.
After travelling by ferry across the fjord, we drive to neighbouring Kåfjord and the spectacular Gorsabrua gorge. An area with an early mining history, the highlight is the footbridge which crosses the 153m deep ravine. We may even see someone bungy jumping!
Hiking at the open tundra towards the Finnish border. Stay in a wilderness hut or tents at the three country borders. Wonder if we see the northern lights in three countries at the same time?
Hiking via Malla Strict Nature Reserve to Kilpisjärvi village. Learn about the special nature and peculiar history of the region. At the village, enjoy a warm sauna and buffet dinner.
It’s the time to travel back home. Or maybe stay for a day or two more? Ask us for more ideas!
