This walking holiday in the famous Lyngenfjord region offers you all the best of the arctic summer; beautiful mountain walks by the turquoise water fjords in the company of like-minded walkers. Your guide is an experienced and professional outdoors guide who lives in the region most of the year.
What does it include?
The daily walks vary from 6-10 km (3-6 hours). The views are breathtakingly beautiful, so make sure to pack your camera with those boots. In the evenings, you can escape for a stroll in the soft light of midnight sun, or just sit at the pier and enjoy the silence. In July, the sun doesn’t set, so don’t need to worry about making it back home before dark.
Why to go to Lyngen?
Lyngen is a perfect destination for pleasant walking holidays for walkers of all levels. Our guided walking holiday takes you on easy to moderate routes around the region. You will have new vistas every day, from the comfort of the same quality accommodation. The fjords still show the signs of thousands of years of glaciers forming and retreating. Valleys and fjords are a living proof of the force of the nature. On this walking holiday you will most likely end up in conversations about the importance of protecting our fragile arctic environment.

On the way to Lyngseidet we take the first walk in Svensby. At this route we have stunning views to Ullsfjord and the surrounding Lyngen Alps.
Located close to Lyngseidet is a popular walk up the hills behind the town. Leaving from the outskirts of the town, we follow a marked trail which leads up above the treeline to Rorneshytta, an idyllic cabin with a commanding view over the fjord.
Afternoon: optional visit to the world’s northernmost distillery, Aurora spirit. Price 45€ / per person
Located at the head of the Steindalen valley is the Steindalsbreen Glacier. The trail up the valley is marked with information about the local flora and fauna as well as historical information. The glacier, like most around the world, has been steadily retreating and it is possible to follow this 8000 year journey as we walk through the valley.
After travelling by ferry across the fjord, we drive to neighbouring Kåfjord and the spectacular Gorsabrua gorge. An area with an early mining history, the highlight is the footbridge which crosses the 153m deep ravine. We may even see someone bungy jumping!
Our last walk together is on our way back to Tromso, a walk to Lyngstuva, the outermost point of the Lyngen Penninsula.
Return to Tromo around 16:00.
