Pick up from Tromso at 10:00 am
On the way to Lyngseidet we take the first walk in Svensby. The Route has stunning views over Ullsfjord and the surrounding Lyngen Alps.
Located close to Lyngseidet is a popular walk up the hills behind the town. Leaving from the outskirts of the town, we follow a marked trail which leads up above the treeline to Rorneshytta, an idyllic cabin with a commanding view over the fjord.
Afternoon: visit to the world’s northernmost distillery, Aurora spirit.
Located at the head of the Steindalen valley is the Steindalsbreen Glacier. The trail up the valley is marked with information about the local flora and fauna as well as historical information. The glacier, like most around the world, has been steadily retreating and it is possible to follow this 8000 year journey as we walk through the valley.
After travelling by ferry across the fjord, we drive to neighbouring Kåfjord and the spectacular Gorsabrua gorge. An area with an early mining history, the highlight is the footbridge which crosses the 153m deep ravine. We may even see someone bungy jumping!
Our last walk together is on our way back to Tromso, a walk to Lyngstuva, the outermost point of the Lyngen Penninsula and hike along what is locally known as the Lands End. Aptly named for its seemingly endless views of the Arctic Sea, the trail concludes at a tiny lighthouse and cabin.
Return to Tromo early evening.
