Autumn Northern Lights Road Trip – Lapland and Norway

SEASON: SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER

Autumn Northern lights season starts in September. This is why September, October, and November are great months for fall Aurora hunting without crowds. We have planned this autumn northern lights holiday with very unique experiences in Finnish Lapland (Rovaniemi, Levi, and Kilpisjärvi), and Norway (Skervøy, Lyngen Alps and Tromso). Morning frost, first snow on the ground, moody landscapes offer great opportunities for visitors to admire the arctic nature. Also, passionate photographers enjoy great landscape scenery to shoot the wilderness.

Highlights:

  • Autumn Northern lights in Finland and Norway
  • Fells and arctic nature in Lapland, fjords and alpine mountains in northern Norway
  • Maybe you’re there for the first snow
  • Silence and relax, cabin life, sauna experiences

Off-peak season travel: enjoy the silence and avoid crowds

Surprisingly, autumn is also low season, so there are no large crowds. Prices are lower but also not all services are available since normally the first snow rain down the end of November – December. In the autumn time, the temperatures are often more pleasant than mid-winter, and daytime has plenty of light even sunshine. This is a perfect season for everyone looking for silence and Auroras but doesn’t like the extreme cold in the winter time.
