Remote but reachable

There are a number of travel options available to reach Kilpisjärvi.

PLANE + PACKAGE

Let us take care of if for you! If you choose a minimum of two days package with us, we can include the airport pickup on your package price.

PLANE + RENTAL CAR

For the independent traveler this provides the most freedom. Just remember to take care when driving on the winter roads. You choose the airport and rental car company of your choice and set your own timetable.

PLANE + BUS / TAXI SHUTTLE

From Kittilä airport: There is a daily bus to Kilpisjärvi from Kittilä Airport. You can find information on bus tables from Matkahuolto. Also, there is a taxi shuttle to and from Kittilä airport, which you must pre-book, preferably at least a week in advance from  +358 400 138 262 / Elli-Maria Kultima. If you’re feeling shy about calling, we can book the taxi for you!

From Tromso airport: You can get a private taxi,  which you must pre-book, preferably at least a week in advance from  +358 400 138 262 / Elli-Maria Kultima. If you’re feeling shy about calling, we can book the taxi for you!

From Enontekiö airport: A taxi shuttle,  which you must pre-book, preferably at least a week in advance from  +358 400 138 262 / Elli-Maria Kultima. If you’re feeling shy about calling, we can book the taxi for you!

TRAIN + BUS OR RENTAL CAR

There is also a train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. An overnight journey on these quality trains is an exciting way to start your adventure. Not to mention the small carbon print it leaves! Make sure when booking that you get the direct train. Once in Rovaniemi,  you can either rent a car or take the daily bus to Kilpisjärvi. The closest airports to the village are:

Tromso, Norway – 171km – 2.5 hours – A list of all flight connections can be found here.

Kiruna, Sweden – 281km – 3.5 hours – A flights connect via Stockholm and are flown by SAS.

Kittilä, Finland – 267km – 3 hours – Flights from Helsinki are run by Finnair, Norwegian and SAS. During the spring season there are also direct flights from Zurich, Switzerland (Helvetic Air), Munich (Lufthansa) and Düsseldorf (Germania), Germany and London Gatwick, UK (Monarch Airlines)

During the high season Finnair operate direct flights available from Helsinki to Enontekiö Airport (162km – 2hours)
